Dr. Charles Brown has faithfully served the people and community of Mt. Marine Baptist Church since 2008. He leads with humility, vision, and an unwavering commitment to the Word of God and the community of believers. Under his leadership, the church has grown in spiritual purpose, intentional discipleship, and meaningful community impact.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Dr. Brown is the host of the Been Thinking Podcast, a platform dedicated to biblical insight, thoughtful conversations, and practical encouragement for everyday life. He is also the author of The People We Stopped Seeing: Rethinking Christianity Through the Lens of Luke 15, a book that challenges the Church to rediscover God’s heart for the overlooked, marginalized, and spiritually disconnected.

At just 17 years old, Dr. Brown enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving faithfully for 20 years while developing the leadership, discipline, and servant-hearted values that continue to shape his ministry today. From 1995 to 2000, he served as an Assistant Marine Officer Instructor with the NROTC units at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, mentoring and training future Naval and Marine Corps officers.

A lifelong learner and dedicated teacher, Dr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from North Carolina Wesleyan University, a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Liberty University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology from Trinity Theological Seminary.

Dr. Brown is a proud native of Columbia, Virginia. He and his wife, Roberta, are the proud parents of two children, Ashley and Charles III, and the joyful grandparents of three grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Above all, Dr. Brown is a servant-leader whose life testifies to the faithfulness of God. He is passionate about helping others discover their God-given purpose—especially those who feel forgotten, rejected, or unqualified—because he knows firsthand what God can do with a fully surrendered life.
